DJ San Diego: EquipmentMany "discount DJ's" have several systems working with one set of backup equipment at the shop. That's like leaving your spare tire at home. With other companies, I have seen amplifiers break down and the DJ had NO music for 45 minutes or more while replacement equipment was in transit. Don't risk this at your event! I always bring backup equipment in the unlikely event of equipment failure. Hiring the cheapest DJ won't seem like a bargain if your event is ruined. Your party deserves better. Most cordless microphones have a lot of dropout, like a cell phone with poor service coverage. I found this frustrating, which is why after much research I chose the Shure ULX series. It performs extremely well and has a very low dropout rate and was well worth the added expense. Some companies will buy their equipment from EBay. I would much rather spend more and have reliable, trustworthy equipment to depend on for your party. I have a separate system I use for ceremonies. Here, I won't even take a chance on missing a word so I use a corded lavaliere mic for your officiant. When the officiant just tips the mic in your direction, it picks up all your vows. In regard to equipment failure, most often it will be the amplifier. This is why I have FBT MAXX4A powered speakers. Each speaker is individually amplified, one speaker will work even if the other malfunctions, so it's a backup system within itself. This also eliminates compatibility issues between the speaker and the amp. |
